Forever 21 at Kaleidoscope 2015

The inevitability of popular acceptance of ‘selfies’ as a part and parcel of our lives gave rise to an opportunity which was hard to resist and equally addictive. Forever 21 in collaboration with Kaleidoscope 2015 organized ‘The#ForeverStylishContest’.

To summarize the contest, college students were given the opportunity to take selfie(s) and post them on various social media platforms. Amongst them, the most fashionable selfies were chosen and declared as the winning clicks. The winners had the opportunity to bag Forever 21 Gift Vouchers worth Rs. 5000 each and they’re gearing up to get styled by the professionals from StyleCracker.com & rock the ramp at the #ForeverStylish Fashion Walk at Kaleidoscope 2015 on the 6^th of September.

The Forever Stylish Contest stood testament to the love for selfies amongst the youth, representing how the youth defines ‘Fashion’.

 Immense buzz created during College Promotions and the inclination for the youth’s addiction to selfies yielded an amazing response. Here are some of the winners giving their take on the #ForeverStylish Contest.

1.     1.  “Keeping the style in stylish is what Forever 21 taught me. This puts in lot of confidence in people and they can actually be themselves when they are appreciated on the basis of their natural style or beauty” - Barbie Rajput (Sophia College for Women).

2       2.  “There are extreme lengths that girls can go to for Forever 21. From standing in lines for hours to fighting over the last piece. I think clicking a selfie was my favourite one” - Roopali Sehgal (KJ Somaiya College).

Did you know that in 2013, Oxford Dictionaries names 'Selfie' word of the year? Recently, we found out exactly how much we love taking selfies, with Forever 21’s contest called Forever Stylish. Not only do you get to upload selfies with your friends in your most chic attire, but you can also win vouchers worth Rs. 5000 AND a chance to get styled in F21 outfits by the professional stylists from StyleCracker.com. All thanks to Forever 21, in association with Kaleidoscope 2015! All you have to do is upload your selfie with the hashtags #ForeverStylish, #F21, #NamasteKscope and your college name.

Members of the Workforce have also been visiting colleges in the city, painting the town yellow (yeah we know it’s usually red, but F21 yaaar!). Armed with pamphlets and posters, our girls have been hard at work, spreading the word about this too-good-to-be-true opportunity. Be it the scorching heat or the heavy (but welcome) rains, no part of the city has been left unattended. Obviously, the response has been phenomenal. Over 2000 selfies have been posted to Kaleidoscope’s Instagram account itself, and on Twitter and Facebook as well.

CL Meet 2015

Kaleidoscope is mere days away and yes, the Workforce is experiencing something very close to what we call hysteria. Everything is happening at break-neck speed and events are zipping past us in a blur of excitement and anxiety. One of these events was the CL meet that happened on August 20, 2015 on the Sophia College campus. Decked up like a dulhan, the Convention Centre bore witness to this ritual of introducing the fest to the Contingent Leaders of the participating colleges. The round of introductions involved a mention of our Student Body President and Honorary EC’s silver nail polish (yes, that is a thing we do here), a certain college’s admittance of the pitiful size of their campus (“smaller than your basketball court”) and a comment on a black cat that may or may not be worshipped on another college’s campus (we have a white one here). Despite this, the food sponsored by Bachelorr’s stole the show, which is not really surprising considering the relationship we as Indians have with free stuff.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Workforce has been busy with one of the most important parts of the festival: the photo shoots. Each team has been trying to one-up each other in order to be the craziest or the most badass looking team, which is next to impossible since we all know that the EC is going toblow everyone away in the end anyway. Nevertheless, each team has had a gorgeous photo taken of them, some of them posing as *loud truck noise* in the setting of a *cars honking on the street*. Some of them even… well, we’re not going to give everything away so easy, are we?

Kaleidoscope can’t begin soon enough for us, and we can almost hear the thunder of kolhapuris outside our doorstep. So get ready to witness a zordaar festival this year, and don’t forget to turn your desi swag on as you Namaste your way to Kaleidoscope 2015!
